Blair Gordon, Director of Programs

Mr. Blair Gordon joined Routes AstroEngineering in 2002. As Director of Programs at Routes, Blair Gordon leads the Company’s interdisciplinary technical teams in the design and development of equipment for space and commercial applications.

Blair brings over 20 years of aerospace experience in program and technical management, systems engineering, the management and execution of subcontracts, including performance monitoring, and satellite integration. While at Routes, EMS Technologies and Distinct Management Solutions, he managed the:

  • Development of the Power Control Unit on SciSat.
  • Development of Optical Intersatellite Link systems
  • Product development of star trackers for LEO and GEO satellites, the first LEO star tracker was launched in 2000.
  • Development and manufacture of optical instruments including:
    • Wide-angle Imaging Camera for NASA IMAGE spacecraft launched in May 2000.
    • FREJA Auroral Imager, launched Oct 1992; 2 flight cameras and 1 flight spare.
    • Ultra Violet Auroral Imager (UVAI) – 2 cameras, gimbal system, electronics for integration onto Russian INTERBALL spacecraft – launched Aug 1996.
  • Development of the engineering model to validate technology and manufacturing / production techniques for an S-band User Transponder.
  •    Manufacture and initial system test for the flight RF payload on the OEDIPUS-C mission, launched on a ballistic rocket in 1996.

Prior to joining Routes, Blair was responsible for the development, deployment and technical performance of assigned optical telecom components products at Zenastra Photonics Inc. Blair holds a B.A. Sc. Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada.
